Fuck Yeah, Dinosaurs! is a Pittsburgh-based dinosaur-themed skate punk rock band active since 2010. The current lineup has been together since 2017, releasing two studio albums and a remix album. In the summer of 2020, they released "65 Million Beers Ago" during the pandemic, following a successfully funded IndieGoGo campaign and a collaboration beer with Dancing Gnome Brewery. Proceeds from the release livestream were donated to BLM organizations and the Bukit Bail Fund, a coalition supporting people incarcerated in Allegheny County Jail.

Their music pulls from '90s and 2000s skate punk, with '80s hardcore, a little ska, and some poppier elements mixed in. Their style sits comfortably in classic pop punk territory, with influences from Dead Kennedys, Night Birds, Dead Milkmen, Bad Brains, and Guttermouth.

What even is a Dinopunk? It’s pretty much exactly what it sounds like. Dinopunk is a genre that feels like doing sick kickflips on a skateboard, crushing down cans of beer, smoking weed, and floating in outerspace all at the same damn time.

“Jurassic Drunks” brings together songs written as far back as 2010, along with newer tracks created with the current FYD lineup. The album is the closing chapter on those early years while also moving into what comes next for the band. As they put it: “We were probably drunk when we recorded them back in 2010, we were probably drunk when we recorded this album back in 2017, and we’re probably drunk right now. So have a beer, relax, enjoy, and thanks for being part of our journey through time and space.”

Fuck Yeah, Dinosaurs! originally started in the summer of 2010 when Jon and Zach got together in Greensburg with an acoustic guitar and a case of cheap beer. Four acoustic songs were written and recorded in a single night, with no intention of doing anything beyond that. Eventually, FYD grew into a full band, played a number of shows, and opened for several notable touring acts. The dinos disbanded in 2012, went on hiatus for a while, and reformed in 2017 with the lineup featured on this album.

FYD has a spirit that naturally meshes with the furry community. Their live performances have an upbeat energy that connects to their listeners, and on top of that, Pittsburgh is known to have some of the most passionate subcultures in States. That passion extends to its furry community, which is home to the largest furry convention in the world: Anthrocon. FYD is a band about loving dinosaurs, not giving a damn what anyone thinks, and making space for everyone at their shows regardless of gender, sexuality, or ethnicity. They've gone out of their way to show that they care about furries as they've expressed interest in performing at Anthrocon, and they’ve already played at Western PA Furry Weekend on October 3, 2025. As a life-long furry, FYD is literally the reason I made myself a dinosaur fursona. It's safe to say that they have a reserved seat at our lunch table.

How I Found the Dinos

Back in 2018, I went looking for metal music with lyrics about dinosaurs. I found some great bands like The Ocean, Thecodontion, and Diplodocus. Despite these kick ass bands, I actually became obsessed with the one and only Fuck Yeah, Dinosaurs!, a scrappy punk band from Pittsburgh who sounded absolutely nothing like what I was searching for, and they immediately rewired my entire brain chemistry.

The band's influence went so much further than just their music for me. FYD became the foundation of my entire online identity as DINOPUNKS orignally but then later JURASSICPUNKS, this is the name I use all across the furry side of the internet. My last fursona was a badass Ceratosaurus designed around them. The charater was even the vocalist of a fictional slam metal band called JURASSIC SMASHED. Sadly, I had to sell that character in April 2025 to cover the cost of a new PC, which still really hurts. I like to check on him every once in a while to see if there's a small chance that he's back up for sale. I'm currently without a fursona, but the idea of building another one around this band hasn't gone anywhere. I want to make myself another Ceratosaurus at some point.

What FYD gave me isn’t easy to explain. They show up in the music I listen to, the politics I stand behind, the way I dress, and how I carry myself online, as well as the community I found in furry spaces. Somehow, a goofy punk band that loves dinosaurs ended up meaning everything to me. That’s really the whole point of this shrine.
