- 1. Please introduce yourself.
- 'Sup, my name is DINO as in DINOsaur! I am a lifelong metalhead with a really cool environmental science background.
- 2. How long have you been making websites?
- I have been coding seriously since 2018, but if we are counting Neopets, then 2006.
- 3. And what got you into the hobby?
- The website Toyhou.se. I loved how easy it was to customize profiles and character pages. I learned CSS through it, but the limitations started to bore me, so I moved on to Neocities and Nekoweb.
- 4. What kind of website are you most interested in?
- I like websites with content, so basically any website .
- 5. What's your workflow? Do you plan your websites out thoroughly or do you come up with the design as you go along?
- I plan my general themes first, then browse Pinterest for inspiration. Once I have an idea, I draw it out in MS Paint. I also have folders full of ideas and potential graphics, although half of them I never end up using them.
- 6. Please link to your biggest inspirations.
- VampireFreaks layouts from 2013, and honestly any metal band website from the early 2000s. Thank you, Wayback Machine!
- 7. What's your favourite part about making websites?
- I love yapping and making blogs. This website alone will probably have at least four blogs.
- 8. And the thing you struggle with the most?
- JavaScript. I usually just grab snippets or stalk other websites to figure it out lol.
- 9. Do you keep the same layout on all of your pages? Or do you use different ones?
- These days I prefer to keep the layouts similar to each other.
- 10. How confident are you with CSS?
- Very confident. I love CSS!
- 11. Do you know how to correctly use <dl>?
- I do, I am literally using it right now.
- 12. What is your favourite HTML element?
- I think <button> is pretty neat. It just creates a clickable button, man. I used to use <marquee> like my life depended on it.
- 13. If you're making a new web page from scratch, what is the first thing you do?
- The header and footer always come first.
- 14. Do you know JavaScript?
- I guess, but also not really. I hate the math involved.
- 15. How about PHP?
- I want to learn it, but honestly it is not really necessary for this website.
- 16. Does your website have a theme that you stick to?
- DUH. METAL 4EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!
- 17. Are you more focused on content or design?
- Both. I like a good design, but also enough content to actually look at.
- 18. Do you own a domain name? If not, would you ever want to?
- I own a domain name for a different website. I would like to get a domain for KILLDOZER one day.
- 19. What do you think of nostalgia-focused or "retro" websites?
- They are sick as fuck.
- 20. Is your HTML valid? Do you even check?
- It should be.
- 21. What are your opinion on buttons and banners?
- I LOVE THEM. MAKE MORE BANNERS SPECIFICALLY!!!
- 22. What do you think of button walls in particular?
- I basically have a small wall under "Brutal Sites."
- 23. If you started over again, would you make something similar or completely different?
- Why would I start over? My site is cool as hell.
- 24. Are you envious of other people's websites?
- Nope. Instead, they inspire me. My favorite site here is Skullmund. So fucking metal!!!
- 25. What text editor do you use?
- I used to use Nekode, but now I am back to Notepad and CodePen because I fall back into old habits.
- 26. Why do you use that one?
- I do not know, it is just easy and familiar for me.
- 27. Do you host your image files on your web server, or on another host?
- ALWAYS HOST YOUR OWN MEDIA. You never know when sites like Catbox will shut down.
- 28. This might not be relevant to you, but what's your opinion on the Neocities vs. Nekoweb debate?
- I do not give a shit. I use both hosts.
- 29. How much server space would you estimate your main website takes up?
- Wouldn't you like to know?
- 30. Do you keep local backups of your files?
- I always save my codes to my own computer.
- 31. Do you prefer simple or highly visual websites?
- It really depends on the website's vibe. I usually prefer highly detailed websites, but I also like simpler ones too. Who am I to judge a personal website? I like them all.
- 32. Do you stick to certain colours? Do you do that on purpose, or is it your subconscious?
- Every website I have made sticks to a color theme. This one is green because I like green. My other website is blue and white because it is based around Nintendo consoles.
- 33. Have you ever thought about quitting? Why?
- Naaaah, I love coding too much. If I need a break, I will take one. I have taken an 8 month hiatus before.

- I update every single day, but my website is not finished yet, soooo yeah.

- WHere is the option for all three?
- 39. Do you do web design professionally?
- No, and I never will.
- 40. If not, would you like to? And if you're comfortable answering, what do you do for work?

- 41. Do you communicate with people by email very much?
- My entire life revolves around fucking Gmail u_u

- 43. How about instant messengers? Do you use a mainstream one like Discord or Telegram? Or something like Matrix? Do you avoid them?
- I only use Discord.
- 44. Do you listen to music while you work on websites? If so, what kinds of artists?
- I am always listening to music. You can make an educated guess on what I listen to.
- 45. Do you keep everything you make on one website, or do you have more than one?
- I try to keep everything on this website, but I do use both Neocities and Nekoweb for hosting music, images, and videos.
- 46. On a similar note, do you keep to one topic on your site, or many?
- While metal is the primary topic of my website, I talk about other shit too. Sticking to only metal music would be boring as hell and make me uninteresting. I plan to make a section just for dinosaurs, for example.
- 47. Do you present your real self, or at least try? Or do you construct a persona on purpose?
- I am presenting myself in real life. It is impossible to doxx me if I already doxxed myself. :P
- 48. Have you ever made a good friend thanks to your website?
- I have not.
- 49. Are you happy with the way HTML and CSS currently work?
- Yeah. They are easy to learn, and you can create some really cool shit with very little knowledge.
- 50. What are practices that you think people should avoid?
- STOP HOSTING SHIT ON CATBOX!!! It is fine for quick sharing, but if you care about your site even a little bit, host your own damn media.
- 51. What about under-utilised practices, or things you think people should do more?
- I'm literally just a hobbyist.
- 52. Do you use a lot of semantic HTML? Or are you guilty of generic structure?
- Guilty as charged.
- 53. Do you consider different browsers?
- Yeah, but I always end up back on Firefox. I tried Ecosia recently but wasn't a fan of the layout.
- 54. Speaking of, what's your preferred browser? Convince your readers why they should use it.
- Firefox. I'm not convicing anyone, use whatever the fuck you want.
- 55. And what OS are you on?
- Windows 11.
- 56. Do you have a strong opinion on that, or do you just happen to use it?
- It came with my PC... that's literally it.
- 57. Are your websites mobile-friendly?
- I haven't designed them to be, but they don't look too bad on mobile tbh lol
- 58. What are your thoughts on autoplay?
- I do not give a fuck what webmasters do on their own websites. Dictating someone else’s creativity is weird as hell. I used to use autoplay a lot, but I am keeping this website autoplay free. I am trying to make my website as accessible as possible.
- 59. What are your thoughts on webrings? Are you in any?
- I love webrings!!! They helped me find so many cool websites I probably would not have discovered otherwise. I am currently part of the CDRing.
- 60. Do you have any web shrines? What do you like to see in that sort of page?
- I plan to make a lot of shrines! They are one of the coolest parts of personal websites. I love reading about people’s u unhealthy obsessions with a fictional character or some shit.
- 61. Are your websites "cliche", in your opinion?
- Maybe in the political sense? I don't know? there are so many music-themed websites, as well as radical leftists. Anytime I see a bigot, they get their anal cavities blasted in 4K.
- 62. What is your ideal website? Are you striving for that, or for something else?
- You're looking at it.
- 63. Are you an artist? Do you draw or design your own assets?
- I am an artist, but there really isn't much to draw here... as it's all photo and video-based.
- 64. What are your favourite resource sites?
- Anywhere on Neocities, I guess. Tons of personal websites here include resource pages.
- 65. Is there a habit you just can't get away from no matter how hard you try?
- I never add notes, so finding shit is impossible (thank you CTRL + F for saving my stupid ass!!!!)
- 66. What's your biggest advice for a new webmaster?
- It doesn't matter how ugly your website is... everyone starts somewhere, and some webmasters intentionally make their websites retro and ugly anyways, so it's fine and you're ugly website will fit right in.
- 67. Do you keep all your styling in CSS? Or do you hard-code some?
- I try to keep the same styling, fonts, colors, etc. I usually stray away when it comes to shrines.
- 68. What do you think of frameset layouts?
- They're cool I guess.
- 69. How about table-based layouts?
- I don't mind these layouts, and I actually think they should be used more. They're easy, and I like to use them when I feel lazy.
- 70. Do you subscribe to the ideas of "one-column", "two-column" and "three-column" layouts? Do you use any of these?
- My website in particular follows a column style, but my first website didn't even have columns AT ALL.
- 71. Do you spend longer on the HTML or the CSS?
- CSS... I like pretty websites.
- 72. Have you ever made a page with no CSS? It's useful for your thoughts.
- NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- 73. Do you ever find yourself making layouts with nothing to put on them? Or do you only make layouts when the need arises?
- All the time. Maybe I should make them free-to-use assets or some shit.
- 74. Would you consider yourself a beginner? Or advanced? Somewhere in the middle?
- Somewhere in the middle? I have at least 8 years of experience learning how to code, but I wouldn't say I make smart decisions or understand everything fully.
- 75. Do you have a habit of looking at the source code of websites you visit?
- Yes... just let me take a peek...
- 77. Do you ever force elements to do things they're not supposed to?
- Yeah, and then I complain for hours why my website is broken hahaha.
- 78. Thoughts on floating elements?
- They are so satisfying to see used well.
- 79. When you're sizing stuff, what do you use first? Do you use px, em, %, or something else?
- It really depends on what I am working on. I just pick what makes the most sense for the layout.
- 80. Do you have a favourite font?
- I LOVE MS GOTHIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- 81. Would you run a website with another person? How would that work?
- Fun fact, I already do. I help moderate and run my boyfriend’s website. He does not know much about coding, so he asked me to help him manage it.
- 82. Do you surf the Web to find new personal websites very often?
- All the damn time.
- 83. Do you bookmark other people's websites? How would you feel knowing someone else bookmarked yours?
- I used to bookmark sites, but now I have a dedicated section for site buttons instead. It is basically a permanent bookmark page hosted directly on my website, which I like way more anyways.
- 84. What do you want people to be most impressed with when they see your website?
- My blogs for sure. The design is cool and all, but I put a lot of time and effort into writing. You can thank my STEM degree for teaching me how to write properly.
- 85. Are you interested in technology outside of websites? Do you collect?
- I LOVE collecting tube TVs, portable radios, music CDs, and vinyls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- 86. How often and for how long are you online?
- I am being held at gunpoint and cannot answer this question.
- 87. When it comes to your website, who is your target audience?
- I would say it is a pretty wide range. Metalheads, punks, goths, bikers, freaks, weirdos, stoners, dads, furries. A little bit of everything.
- 88. Have you ever been interested in XHTML?
- Naaaaaaaah I am good.
- 89. Do you program in general? Have you ever written a program for use with or on your website, not counting simple JavaScript?
- I wrote my own program for my last website once. It took way too much work, so I will probably never do that again. That is what free resources are for.
- 90. Speaking of programs that help you make websites, what do you think of static site generators (SSGs)? Have you ever used one?
- I have never used one, so I do not really have an opinion on them.
- 91. Do you keep a hitcounter? Why or why not?
- I do. I just like seeing how many freaks have touched my website.
- 92. Do you frequent forums? Which ones?
- Yeah, I love forums. I hang out on a few Neocities forums, some car forums, and I go on Toyhouse forums a lot. I used to be active on Neopets and FurAffinity forums too.
- 93. Do you write your page content directly into the editor, or do you prepare it elsewhere, like a text document or a Word document?
- I usually write everything in Notepad or directly in the Neocities dashboard.
- 94. Do you think you appear cool to others? A more accurate answer now: do other people ever say you're cool?
- I have that autistic swag, but people usually call me "weird" or "unsettling", which translates to "you're so fucking cool."
- 95. Are you embarrassed of your old work? Have you ever deleted everything out of shame?
- No way!!! Without my old work, I would not be where I am today. My first website was so fucking bad. It was a dungeon exploration website and it was insanely laggy. I never optimized shit back then.
- 96. Would you close down your website if you couldn't update it, or would you leave an archive?
- I would leave it up as an archive, but I would probably disable things like casual commenting or the guestbook. I do plan to make a forum though, and I would not shut that down. Forums do not need a webmaster constantly maintaining them to stay alive.
- 97. Do you reveal a lot about yourself on your website? Or are you more secretive?
- I reveal everything, want my Social Security number while we are at it?
- 98. Are you willing to reveal who your best online friend is, and/or if they have a website?
- 99. And do you optimise the images on your website?
- I always try to optimize my images, especially photos I have taken myself. Sometimes I forget, but I usually go back and fix them like a month later.
- 100. We're out of time! How do you feel after answering 100 questions? ....other than exhausted.
- Uhhh... this took me three entire days to finish.
